Our client seeks an experienced a Director of Supply Chain Finance to provide financial management of its Global Transportation expense.  This individual would be responsible for leading the financial reporting, analysis and controls process for International and Domestic, Inbound and Outbound Transportation.  The successful candidate will also provide financial insight to the Supply Chain Transportation team regarding optimizing service, quality and cost.


Lead the group’s baseline financial operations including:  forecasting and planning freight expense, monthly financial close and reporting processes, and ad-hoc reporting

Generate reports on Transportation expense performance by Division, identifying key variance drivers and recommending corrective courses of action

Provides financial analysis and direction, in collaboration with Transportation Operations

Identify and provide analysis of performance metrics in alignment with strategic goals

Create and redesign business processes to support effective financial management

Manage the relationship with the third party freight payment provider

Define controls and reporting capabilities that enable accurate forecasting, financial analysis and management of operations, including month end accrual management.

Present operational results, forecasts and analysis for internal and external reporting

Coordinates with corporate finance to ensure the group follows all appropriate guidelines for ensuring operating efficiencies, internal controls and corporate governance


Bachelors Degree in Accounting and/or Finance – MBA preferred

6+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, accounting and operating budget management

Knowledge and familiarity with distribution, transportation, or wholesale operations is a plus

3+ years of supervisory experience

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access and Microsoft PowerPoint

Experience with G/L systems (Lawson Financial a plus)

Experience with Hyperion Essbase a plus

Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written, along with the ability to influence and demonstrate confidence in communications with senior level management.

Strong leadership, organizational and analytical and interpersonal skills are required.  Must have the ability to manage conflict.

Agile learner – able to quickly assimilate relationships between variables under analysis

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including deadline-sensitive priorities.

Flexibility in adjusting and reprioritizing in order to meet changing needs in a fast-paced work environment

Must be self-motivated/self-starter with the ability to work independently to resolve problems with limited information.
