Sr. Oracle Database Engineer Consultant to be responsible for providing technical expertise to the operational and data projects teams as well as engineering and implementing new database solutions that best serve Markets business needs.

The successful candidate would be required to demonstrate strong technical problem solving skills and   strong communication skills, the ability to comfortably multitask and work in a mission critical environment.  The candidate must be able to work independently and willing to accept new technical challenges.

Job Responsibilities:

•      Evaluate and implement  latest  database technology  and new Oracle 11g features

•      Perform analysis and design for the processes and procedures used for managing large or complex database environments to ensure their availability, integrity, security and recoverability;

  • Evaluate and implement Enterprise Manager Grid Control 12c
  • Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures
  • Develop and enhance PL/SQL stored procedures and shell scripts /wrappers
  • Perform monitoring and tuning of database environments to ensure optimum performance and maximization of available resources;
  • Provide technical expertise to application development teams and interface with the industry vendors for technical support as needed
  • Assist with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects;
  • Perform database design reviews and evaluations to ensure that the Group standards and best practices are being adhered to and the resulting physical databases meet project needs
  • Develop, test and handoff to DBAs  design documents,  policies, procedures
  • Collaborate with the application developers, architects and project team on  physical database  design  and implementations
  • Provide assistance with the investigations and resolution of complex technical issues and/or problems related to the support and use of database software and environments
  • Prepare high quality documentation of design/architecture/database infrastructure documents;
  • Assist in ad hoc projects, assignments and responsibilities as necessary

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field or at least 5+ years relevant work experience as  Oracle DBA
  • Solid understanding of relational database technologies, relational data modules and data normalization
  • Solid experience in performance tuning using OEM and Oracle performance views such as ASH tables.
  • Knowledge of RAC setup, configuration, monitoring and performance tuning
  • Expertise in Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM)
  • Understanding of Oracle internals and procedural language (PL/SQL)
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and highly responsible in maintaining time critical  projects schedule
  • Effective verbal and written skills, including good presentation skills

Desirables:

  • Performance optimization and management for relational and dimensional models
  • Experience with  multi-terabyte environments and familiarity with best practices of data archiving and purging
  • Experience in integrating Oracle Authentication with MS Active Directory
  • Expertise in Exadata
  • Familiarity with methodologies and technologies for DW/BI systems
  • Understanding of financial instruments and other market data
  • Expertise in Oracle Security features: OID Oracle Internet Directory, OLS Oracle Label Security, DB Vault, VPD Virtual Private Database
